Firstly thank you for taking the time to respond. Recently I called a Disaster Recovery excercise during which I brought up a second identical instance of a VIP server that existed at a different but live data center.
I disabled my WAN links in my DR center so that both VIP servers would not clash since they would both have had the same RFC 1918 IP address. So whilst they could not reach each other, they could both access Symantec over the Internet. This resulted in the one VIP server in the live data center working fine, but the identical one (replicated image) that i had brought up in my WAN isolated DR center would not work although it was able to reach Symantec over the Internet.
My question is - Is there a mechanism within Symantec that prevents two identical VIP servers from being able to work at the same time?
Thank you in advance.
